Info about India

So my tickets are all booked and I will be leaving on January 8th and returning May 21st. I will be living and doing ministry at Selaqui Childrens Home in Shishya, India . My daily life will be helping at a school teaching, hopefully in the nursery. After school, I will help with homework and play with the boys. The orphanage is on a farm, so I will also be busy with chores. The 60 boys that live there are from 5-18 years old and come from different backgrounds. Most of them have parents, but they either have AIDS or leprosy, or are just to poor to support their children. The children living in the orphanage are raised in a Christian environment, but most of the children from the surrounding neighborhoods are Hindu. Finacial support would be greatly appreciated for travel expenses and mostly to bless the boys. The Lord has placed it on my heart to provide the children with blankets and books. My goal is to have blankets for all of the boys.

My life verse: "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." Matthew 28:19

My overall goal: I want to help these boys develop a strong foundation in the Lord and become leaders in the community and in the nation.

Prayer Request:

  • protection, we have all heard about the attacks Mumba, pray that I arrive in the village safely
  • pray for the boys that I am working with, that they feel loved and grow strong daily
  • pray that my faith grows and that I will turn to Jesus in times of need

Prayers were answers and Accomplishments of 2008

I am going to India. Last year this time I was going in circles trying to find a organization that was not an organization. They speak English, it's Christian, and it is in a Third World Country that I am in love with. Plus Amanda is going to be there and we are going to have so much fun! What more can I ask for?
I did the Chicago Triathlon 45 minutes faster than I thought.
My sister is home!
I got a job.

The countdown has begun!

Less than two more weeks! Jesus's Birthday was really good this year, it was amazing spending time with the whole family. Scott taught me a magic trick, it was really cool, but I need to practice. I am getting ready to go, I found my passport, Praise God, and have started to make a pile to go. I am getting nervous and overwhelmed trying to fit everything in.
